Delete your account
Last updated 27 September 2026
In the app
This is the fastest way and it takes effect immediately.
- Open OpenSplit.
- Go to Account in the navigation bar.
- Scroll to the bottom and choose Delete account.
- Read what it says it will remove, then confirm.
- If you signed in with email or Google more than a few minutes ago, we send a code to your address first. Enter it to confirm it is you. A guest account has no address, so it skips this step.
There is no waiting period and no form to fill in. The account is gone when the confirmation completes.
If you have already uninstalled the app
Write to hello@eigeninteractive.com from the email address on the account and ask for it to be deleted. We will confirm and delete it within 30 days.
If you used OpenSplit as a guest, delete the account in the app before uninstalling or clearing browser data. Guest data is synchronized, but the device session is the only proof that the account is yours. If that session has already been lost, email us with the group and profile details you know. We will investigate without disclosing group data; deletion may not be possible when ownership cannot be verified.
What deletion removes
- Your account and every way of signing in to it.
- Your profile: your display name and your UPI ID.
- Your notification registrations, so the service stops contacting your devices.
- Every group that nobody else has an account in, along with every expense, payment and note in those groups.
What it deliberately keeps
Your side of a group you share with other people. What you paid and what you owe stays, under the name your group knows you by.
This is not a loophole. A shared expense is a record of your co-members' money as much as yours — it is what makes their balances add up — and removing one side of it would leave their figures wrong with no way for them to find out why. What goes is the account: nobody can sign in as you, you no longer appear as a person with an account, and nothing further is stored about you.
If you would rather your name went too, change it in the app before deleting your account. Whatever it says at that moment is what your groups keep.
Before you go
You can export any group's complete data as CSV or JSON from that group's own screen. Deletion cannot be undone, and we cannot recover an account afterwards.
